Where Do These Ideas Come From?
Why are writers writers? Is it an inborn trait that makes us naturally curious? Are we created as storytellers? Do we all look at abandoned homes and wonder who lived there?
I have no doubt that my creative brain is not the same as the creative brain of my husband, who can imagine how a house looks when it is complete or how to design a kitchen, bathroom or garage.
My creativity is more like ...how many books can I get into a repurposed chest of drawers, or how many reams of paper can fit on the 12" shelf under my desk, and by the way, what color should I paint the floor in my work space...my brain works in single pictures that eventually come together to create a 10,000 piece puzzle.
I am a writer. I have been a wordsmith since kindergarten when my teacher taped my mouth shut, true story!--(it was only masking tape!)
Writing is not just what I do. It is who I am.
