Can I Really Be a Writer?

Are YOU a Writer?
Are YOU a Writer?

Planning to be a writer is a decision that anyone can make. But it takes more than a plan. As I tell my class, to be a writer, one must write. And that is, by far, the most difficult part. Writing takes dedication and commitment to sitting behind a computer screen and pecking at the keyboard, or freehand writing in a journal, or dictating into a recorder, or creating headlines for photos in an album. There are so many ways to write, and they are not the same for everyone.

My writing career has run the gambit: Editorials, poems, greeting cards, children's books, front page news, blogs, novels, ghost writing, magazine articles, TV scripts, business press releases, and on and on it goes. But for sure, I have always been a writer.

Now in the "twilight" of my life, I am carrying out a passion of mine: Teach others to write whatever they want to write, however they want to write and whenever they want to write. Is that you?

I am working with a writer, who for the last two years, has taken bits and pieces of her notes, pages and ideas and has turned them into an incredible novel that we are preparing to send to the printer. She had years' worth of notes! And it has taken hours of creative time and brainstorming to get the results. Was it worth it--absolutely! In the midst of this "exercise" in creativity, she has written eight children's books, four of them are in the illustration phase. If you asked her, there was no way she was planning to write children's books. They are a pleasant escape from the tedious work of completing a novel. And a wonderful by-product of her efforts.

Writing may begin with an idea or a thought or even a dream; making it happens begins when you are willing to do the work.

Our Let's-Write course is designed to help you do just that. Your time, your thoughts, your ideas and words. The lessons and homework are to help you make your stories come to life. You may be surprised at the path your words will take you. Give it a try--right now, $29, one lesson, no commitment. I'd love to meet you!
