Change Your Words, Change Your World: Let's Write Together!

Updated: Nov 9

Years ago, I watched a powerful video about a blind man sitting on the steps of a building in a busy downtown area. His sign said, "Help Me." Every day, people walked by, but few put anything in his bucket. One day, a woman stopped, picked up his sign, and said, "Please Help Me, I am Blind." Suddenly, people began to drop money into his bucket.

The Power of Words

Change your words, change your world. Words have an incredible power. They can uplift, inspire, and even transform lives. Just think about it! A simple phrase can change someone's day. It can spark a thought, evoke an emotion, or even ignite a passion.

My youngest son once watched me make a business deal to do some writing for a company. We exchanged ideas, shook hands, and I was handed a check. As we left, he said, "Mom, you haven't done anything yet. He is paying you for words that you haven't written. What if you, like, had Writer's Block?"

I smiled and replied, "Well, that would be like me having Talkers Block!" I always have words.

Embracing the Writing Journey

Writing is a journey, not a destination. It’s about the process, the exploration, and the joy of putting pen to paper—or fingers to keyboard. I can always find the words. Sometimes they aren't perfect, not eloquent, or not exactly what I want to say. But I still write.

I can't imagine a day without writing something. From letters and notes to blogs, opinion pieces, Bible studies, advertisements, and lessons—I write. And I love every letter, comma, exclamation point, and word. I write because that is who I am. A Writer.

Overcoming Writer's Block

Now, let's talk about that pesky thing called Writer's Block. It happens to the best of us. You sit down, ready to pour out your thoughts, and suddenly, your mind goes blank. But don’t worry! There are ways to overcome it.

Try changing your environment. Sometimes, a new setting can spark creativity. Or, take a break and do something completely different. Go for a walk, read a book, or even doodle. You might be surprised at how these activities can help clear your mind and get the words flowing again.

Join Me: Let's Write Together

If you have thought about writing or envision a story in your head, join me—Let's Write together! I know that committing to writing can feel daunting. It requires both time and money. But if you don’t change your words, you will still be where you are now in a year.

Step out, make the commitment, and change your world. It’s a wonderful place filled with endless possibilities.

The Joy of Sharing Stories

Writing isn't just about putting words on a page; it's about sharing your unique perspective. Everyone has a story to tell. Whether it's a personal experience, a fictional tale, or a lesson learned, your voice matters.

When you share your story, you connect with others. You inspire them, entertain them, or even help them see the world in a new light. So, don’t hold back! Your words have the power to make a difference.

Finding Your Writing Community

One of the best ways to grow as a writer is to find a community. Surround yourself with fellow writers who can offer support, feedback, and encouragement. Join writing groups, attend workshops, or participate in online forums.

Having a community can make the writing journey less lonely. You’ll find inspiration in others’ stories and learn new techniques to enhance your craft. Plus, it’s a great way to hold yourself accountable and stay motivated.

Setting Writing Goals

As you embark on your writing journey, consider setting some goals. Goals give you direction and help you measure your progress. Start small. Maybe aim to write for 15 minutes a day or complete a short story by the end of the month.

As you achieve these goals, celebrate your successes! Each step forward is a victory worth acknowledging.

Embracing the Editing Process

Once you’ve written your first draft, it’s time to embrace the editing process. This is where the magic happens! Editing allows you to refine your work, clarify your ideas, and enhance your writing style.

Don’t be afraid to cut out unnecessary words or restructure sentences. Remember, writing is rewriting. It’s all part of the journey.

Conclusion: Your Story Awaits

In conclusion, your story awaits. Don’t let fear or doubt hold you back. Embrace the power of words and take the leap into writing. Whether you’re crafting a novel, a memoir, or a simple blog post, your voice deserves to be heard.

So, let’s write together! Change your words, change your world. It’s a wonderful place filled with endless possibilities.
